MTC was born out of the pain that I saw in our great country Uganda more especially in rural areas. The opportunities for bible collages, bible schools, and bible institutes always stop in Kampala city or urban centers of Uganda. Ministers and Pastors from rural areas do not get the opportunities to explore the Bible.

I once went to one district known as Mubende to host a conference. I found two pastors, among the so many pastors that were here, I found two of these pastors unbaptized. I was so shocked, I asked myself so many questions, “how did they become pastors without being baptized”? They gave me their stories and both of them had similar scenarios.

They both came from different areas after receiving salvation, they came to this place as new born again converts. As they arrived in this place, the serving pastors were pastoralists who migrated during the drought season to look for green pasture to feed their cattle. So, pastors in this place had left the churches and migrated in such for green pasture to tend for their cattle leaving behind the churches.

The Christians that remained decided that they would go back into the worldly religions where they came from but, the two new converts who had just arrived into their area told them, “don’t go back, we are born again and we shall pastor you.” Remember, these two came from wherever they had been as new converts before being baptized either. They are at a new church that had no pastor and they took over and continued thereon.

I saluted them, and told them, “you are truly men, but you need to be baptized.” But, they had spent a long time pastoring this church without being baptized. I saw a lot of pain, pastors in this area, they don’t know the Bible, others don’t even own a bible yet they are pastors. Others had pieces of the bible with only the genesis without revelation books, some of the pages and verses in Mathew were torn out. They did not have money to buy a new bible, it meant they could not read all of it.

It is from this pain I got that God put the vision in my heart, I realized we could start that rural training of pastors and ministers in these rural churches to give them basic knowledge and information from the bible.

Pastor Kagabo (Right)

I prayed and fasted, I heard a voice inside me saying to name this thing – MTC (Missionary Training Centre). The idea was to get deep into rural areas in villages where there is no electricity at all and not even access to clean water. We would find a church and start a Centre ad train them. We would print for them books for study purposes, pay their teachers and trainers for a couple of months. We usually take about 6 months then bring them for graduation. We offer each of them a gift of the Bible, we give some of the study bibles, and others took Luganda zip bibles. All this was birthed out of pain realized that urban preachers have so many opportunities and bible colleges, they even have smart phones to enable them do all the research they can find and learn easily unlike the preachers in rural areas, who have not even seen a smart phone in their lives.

That’s why I got the pain to start and God have been merciful, in the maiden graduation of the year 2023, we awarded certificates to the grandaunts totaling to 450 who successfully finished the education program.
